I dreamed I had an interview with God.
So you would like to interview me? God asked.
If you have the time? I said.
God smiled. ?My time is eternity.
What questions do you have in mind for me?
What surprises you most about humankind?
God answered...
That they get bored with childhood,
they rush to grow up, and then
long to be children again.
That they lose their health to make money...

and then lose their money to restore their health.
That by thinking anxiously about the future,
they forget the present,
such that they live in neither the present nor the future.
That they live as if they will never die,
and die as though they had never lived.
we were silent for a while.
And then I asked.
As a parent, what are some of life's lessons you want your children to learn
To learn they cannot make anyone love them.
All they can do
is let themselves be loved.
To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.
To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.
To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love,
and it can take many years to heal them.
To learn that a rich person
is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least
To learn that there are people who love them dearly,
but simply have not yet learned how to express or show theirfeelings.
To learn that two people can
look at the same thing and see it differently?
To learn that it is not enough that they
forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves.
Thank you for your time," I said
"Is there anything else you would like your children to know"
God smiled and said,Just know that I am here... always.

for eyes is pity

for hands is charity

for heart is love

and for life is friendship

No one can go back and make a new start

Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending

God didn't promise days without pain

laughter without sorrow , sun without rain,

but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears

and light for the way

Disappointments are like road bumps, they slow you down a bit

but you enjoy the smooth road afterwards

Don't stay on the bumps too long

Move on

When you feel down because you didn't get what you want just sit tight
and be happy

because God has thought of something better to give you

When something happens to you ,good or bad,

consider what it means

There's a purpose to life's events

to teach you how to laugh more or not to cry too hard

You can't make someone love you
all you can do is be someone who can be loved

the rest is up to the person to realize your worth

It's better to lose your pride to the one you love

than to lose the one you love because of pride

We spend too much time looking for the right person to love

or finding fault with those we already love

when instead

we should be perfecting the love we give

Never abandon an old friend

You will never find one who can take their place
Friendship is like wine
older it gets better as it grows

When people talk behind your back, what does it mean?

Simple ! It means that you are two steps ahead of them

So, keep moving ahead in Life

About Life
The winds carry scatter across the planet the seeds of life to bring forth the grass and the flowers and woods. The eternal winds of the universe are rushing along. What do they do? No one knows. But I am sure that nature has created us, endowed us with intelligence, so that we, like her servant, the winds, can carry life into the vast and limitless emptiness and to its innumerable worlds. Reason should win out on earth and then in the whole universe.
Glazkov, Yuri

My own view is that although we do not yet know fundamental physical laws, when and if we find them the possibility of life in a universe, governed by those laws will be written into them. The existence of life in the universe is not a selective principle acting upon the laws of nature; rather it is a consequence of them.
Pagels, Heinz

We are not alone in the universe, and do not bear alone the whole burden of life and what comes of it. Life is a cosmic event- so far as we know the most complex state of organization that matter has achieved in our cosmos. It has come many times, in many places- places closed off from us by impenetrable distances, probably never to be crossed even with a signal. As men we can attempt to understand it, and even somewhat to control and guide its local manifestation. On this planet that is our home, we have very reason to visit it well. Yet should we fail, all is not lost. Our kind will try again elsewhere.
Wald, George

About Mind
Our minds soar with instant connection, but our feet are stuck in temporal boots.
Blaise, Clarke

The human mind is not capable of grasping the Universe. We are like a little child entering a huge library. The walls are covered to the ceiling with books in many different tongues. The child knows that something must have written these books. It does not know who or how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. But the child notes a definite plan in the arrangement of the books- a mysterious order which it does not comprehend, but only dimly suspects.
Einstein, Albert

A mind accustomed to mathematical deduction, when confronted with the faulty foundations [of astrology] resists along, long time, like an obstinate mule, until compelled by beating and curses to put its foot into that dirty puddle.
Kepler, Johannes

About the Moon
The moon like a flower
In heaven's high bower,
With silent delight
Sits and smiles on the night.
Blake, William

The moon was shining sulkily,
Because she thought the sun
Had got no business to be there
After the day was done-
Carroll, Lewis

The moving moon went up the sky,
And nowhere did abide;
Softly she was going up,
And a star or two beside.
Coleridge, Samuel Taylor

…the moon is nothing
But a circumambulating aphrodisiac
Divinely subsidized to provoke the world
Into a rising birth –rate.
Fry, Christopher

As when the moon, refulgent lamp of night,
O'er heaven's clear azure spreads her sacred light,
When not a breath disturbs the deep serene;
Around her throne the vivid planets roll,
And stars unnumbered gild the glowing pole,
O'er the dark trees a yellower verdue shed,
And tip with silver every mountain's head.
Homer

They died on mince, and slice of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon, the moon,
They danced by the light of the moon
Lear, Edward

The moon is the Rosetta stone of the solar system, and to the student of the origin of the earth and planets, this lifeless body is even more important than Mars and Venus.
Jastrow, Robert & Newell, Homer E.

By death the moon was gathered in
Long ago, ah long ago;
Yet still the silver corpse must spin
And with another's light must glow.
Her frozen mountains must forget
Their primal hot volcanic breath,
Doomed to revolve for ages yet,
Void amphitheatres of death.
Huxley, Julian(i love this one!)

Queen of heaven, fair of face,
Undefiled by alien feet;
Where the Sun's untrammeled heat
Meets the cold of outer space;
Soon no more the Queen of Night,
For your conquest is in sight.
Lightner, Alice

Saw the moon rise from the water,
Rippling, rounding from the water,
Saw the flecks and shadows on it,
Whispered, "What is that, Nokomis?"
And the good Nokomis answered,
"Once a warrior very angry,
Seized his grandmother and threw her
Up into the sky at midnight;
Right against the moon he threw her;
"Tis her body that you see there".
Longfellow, Henry Wadsworth

To behold the wandering moon,
Riding near her highest noon,
Like one that had bin led astray
Through the heaven's wise pathless way;
And oft, as if her head show bowed,
Stooping through a fleecy cloud
Milton, John

There is no one among you, my brave colleagues, who has not seen the moon, or at least heard speak of it.
Verne, Jules

About The Sun

The night has a thousand eyes,
And the day but one;
Yet the night of the bright world dies,
With the dying sun
Bourdillon, Francis William

The face of the sun is now without expression, but it tells us precious little of what is in its heart.
Deutsch, Armin J.

The glorious lamp of heaven, the radiant sun, is Nature's eye;…
Dryden, John

Truly the light is sweet,
And it is pleasant for the eyes to behold the sun…
Ecclesiastes 11:7

High in his chariot glow'd the lamp of day.
Falconer, William

The sun, whose rays
Are all ablaze
With ever-living glory,
Does not deny
His Majesty-
He scorns to tell a story!
Gilbert, William
Sullivan, Arthur

The sun…is new each day.
Heraclitus

Now if the sun is not created a miraculous body, to shine on and give out heat, we must suppose it to be a body subject to the laws of matter (I do not say there may not be laws which we have not discovered) but, at all events, not violating any laws we have discovered or believe we have discovered. We should deal with the sun as we should any large mass of molten iron, or silicon, or sodium.
Kelvin, Lord

Down sank the great red sun, and in golden glimmering vapours veiled the light of his face, like the prophet descending from Sinai.
Longfellow, Henry Wadsworth

Whence are the beams, O sun! thy everlasting light! Thou comes forth in thy awful beauty; the stars hide themselves in the sky; the moon, cold and pale, sinks in the western wave; but thou myself movest alone.
Macpherson, James

The sun, looking down on the tranquil landscape, seems conscious of the presence of every living thing on which he is pouring his blessing, while they in turn, with perhaps the exception of man, seem conscious of the presence of the sun as a benevolent father and stand hushed and waiting.
Muir, John

…the moon's love affair has come to an end!
Just look! There is stands; pale and dejected---before the dawn!
For already it is coming, the glowing sun---its love of the earth is coming!
All sun-love is innocence and creative desire!
Just look how it comes impatiently over the sea! Do you not feel the thirst and hot breath of its love?
Nietzsche, Friedrich

About Sky
It is impossible for any sensitive person to look at a star filled sky without being stirred by thoughts of creation and eternity. The mystery of the origin and destiny of the universe haunts us throughout our lives.
Friedman, Herbert

Sky---what a scowl of cloud
Till, near and far,
Ray on ray split the shroud
Splendid, a star!
Browning, Robert

Nature offers no greater splendor than the starry sky on a clear, dark night. Silent, timeless, jeweled with the constellations of ancient myth and legend, the night sky has inspired wonder throughout the ages.
Astronomy Survey Committee

…each step forward in unraveling the mystery of comets (or any other natural phenomenon ) brings great pleasure to all who look to the sky as a source of beauty and intellectual challenge.
Brandt, John C.
Chapman, Robert D.

A sky as pure as water bathed the stars and brought them out.
De Saint-Exupery, Antoine

The sky is the daily bread of the eyes.
Emerson, Ralph Waldo

Where do I begin
To tell the story
Of how greatful love can be
The sweet love story
That is older than the sea
That sings the truth about the love he brings to me
Where do I start
With the first hello
he gave the meaning
To this empty world of mine
That never did
Another love another time
he came into my life
And made a living fine
he fills my heart
he fills my heart
With very special things
With angel songs
With wild imaginings
he fills my soul
With soo much love
That anywhere I go
I’m never lonely
With his along who could be lonely
I reach for her hand
Its always there
How long does it last
Can love be measured by the hours in a day
I have no answers no
But this much I can say
I know I’ll need his till this love song burn away
And he’ll be there...
How long does it last
Can love b measured by the hours in a day
I have no answers no
But this much i can say
I know ill need his till this love song burn away
And he'll be there

Again Sky

It is doubtful whether there is in the whole range of human experience any more awe-inspiring spectacle than that presented by the sky on a clear and moonless night. Under the volt of the sparkling heavens one is raised, if ever, to an actual realization of the fact that the earth beneath his feet is a relatively tiny mass in comparison with the infinite cosmos spread out above.
Moulton, Forest Ray

My soul is in the sky.(a very nice sentence)

About the Dark Matter
(a bit scientific)

...greet the unseen with a cheer!
Browning, Robert

...what is essential, is invisible to the eye!
De Saint-Exupery, Antoine

because all things balance - as on a wheel - and we cannot see nin-tenth of what is real, our claims of self-reliance are pieced together by unpanned gold. the whole system is a game: the planets are the shells; our Earth, the pea.
may there be no moaning of the bar. like ships at sunset in a reverie, we are shadows of what we are!

NOOROZ

In harmony with rebirth of nature, the Persian New Year Celebration,

or Norooz, always begins on the first day of spring, March 20th of

each year. Norooz ceremonies are symbolic representations of two

ancient concepts - the End and Rebirth. About 3000 years ago

Persian's major religion was Zoroastrianism, named in honor of its

founder Zoroaster, and arguably the world's first monotheistic

religion. Zoroastrians had a festival called "Farvardgan" which lasted

ten days, and took place at the end of the solar year. It appears that

this was a festival of sorrow and mourning , signifying the end of life

while the festival of Norooz, at the beginning of spring signified

rebirth, and was a time of great joy and celebration. Norooz was

officially acknowledged and named "Norooz" by mythical Persian

emperor, Shah Jamshid, from Achaemenid Dynasty (500 BC).

Ashaemenied created the first major empire in the region and built

Persepolis complex (Takhte Jamshid) in the city of Shiraz. Norooz in

Persian means "New Day" and brings hope, peace and prosperity to

the world and has been celebrated among people regardless of

ethnic background, political views or religion in many countries

around the globe such as Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey,

Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Georgia, Iraq, Tajikistan, Syria ,Armenia and

India. Some of the activities during Norooz are Spring cleaning,

buying new cloths, painting eggs, family reunion, giving presents,

visiting neighbors and friends and celebrating by having a picnic on

the 13th day of Spring.

Happy Norooz

Haji Firuz

do not know how to say thanks to my dear friend, Mahba Gian:53:
thank u very much for ur nice essay darlin it was a very well organized :53:
text and an easy to understand one about our nice tradition the noroz :53:

Happy noroz my friend:53:

now, following Mahba, i am going to write what i, myself, know about one famous person related
to these dayd and noroz, that's no one but Haji Firooz

based on my searches, no one knows for sure why there is always a
funny person named Haji Firooz, who appears at these times of year, wearing
red clothes, fastening a belt and colered his face in black
here is a photo of him

according to dr.Kazazi, professor of persian literature, there is a story behind him ... that turns back
to thousands of years ago... and has roots in religious belifes of Persian people, everything related to Haji Firooz is a sign
e.g. his red cloths can be said that is a sign of the "obvious world" in contrast with the "hidden world" which is
appeared in his black face...based on our ancestors' belifes, there are two worlds: the obvious one and the hidden one. they also
thought that as the spring comes, gods of fertilization, agriculture and etc. show themselves and leave the hidden room
slowly as the winter goes away...therefore Haji's black face shows that goods are comming back from hidden world, where they were
during winter. Then about his red colored clothes we can say that, it is a sign for
sun (also i. myself, think that his circle in hand is a sign of sun, too) and shows that spring is comming.
because the sun itself is a sign of living, spring and every thing good! and nice

the combination of these two colors really surprises me... definitely there is a
story and a phelosophy behind it that maybe is hidden forever
!

May the festival of lights be the harbinger of joy and prosperity. As the holy occasion of

beauty brings your way, bright sparkles of contentment, that stay
with you through the days ahead.

did the earth move for me?????.....

who knows?
we live in such a cruel world, that nowadays
there are not lots of people thinking about each other's pain . . .

why is that so?
why we are accustomed to say: who cares?

....

in one of the hospitals in one of the cities of this cruel world, a pretty girl was sleeping on her bed, fairly . . .

what could be her problem? while she was young, beutiful, unexperienced the buty of nature as well as others and . . .

the problem was Polio .

a kind of illness that avoids you moving your organs of body easily, that makes you to be embarresed from what you are.

have you ever tried to put yourself instead of a person having the Polio?

i do not know, any way that is really hard and also bothering .

days were passing very slowly for Rozetta and all she had seen or learned was the white color of the walls, nurces, bounds of drooped flowers and noises bothering her ears .

no friends, no family, no felling . . .

but oneday something very special happened to her

suddenly everything moved
everyone shouted and ran out of the rooms
suddenly dread and fear were dominating and one second after that every bit of life, stopped . . . because of the Earthquake.
no one did not know what to do
people were just hanging around and what attracted the attention more in such atmosphere was voice of small kidds, cring loudly .

then Rozetta felt she Had to do something
she was just thinking of running away
then surprisingly
she moved!
for the firdt time in her life
she moved her foot
her head
her hands!

who can imagine how fascinating were those seconds for Rozetta?!

while cring, SHE LAUGHED! loudly
for the first time in her life !

the nurce there
shocked by what had happened

smashed his eyes once and twice

and just said:

Rozetta, Oh, Dear Rozetta
i'm sure that the earth moved for you!

My introduction: John Donne was one of the pioneers of metaphysical poetry. the main point in his poetry is mixing both: thought and emotion, which makes his works so modern and tangible for 21 century man.this is a love poetry by John Donne, a late 16th century English poet. I have translated it myself. Hope you enjoy it.
The sunrising
B
USY old fool, unruly Sun, Why dost thou thus,
Through windows, and through curtains, call on us ?
Must to thy motions lovers' seasons run ?
Saucy pedantic wretch, go chide
Late school-boys and sour prentices,
Go tell court-huntsmen that the king will ride,
Call country ants to harvest offices ;
Love, all alike, no season knows nor clime,
Nor hours, days, months, which are the rags of time.

Thy beams so reverend, and strong
Why shouldst thou think ?
I could eclipse and cloud them with a wink,
But that I would not lose her sight so long.
If her eyes have not blinded thine,
Look, and to-morrow late tell me,
Whether both th' Indias of spice and mine
Be where thou left'st them, or lie here with me.
Ask for those kings whom thou saw'st yesterday,
And thou shalt hear, "All here in one bed lay."

She's all states, and all princes I ;
Nothing else is ;
Princes do but play us ; compared to this,
All honour's mimic, all wealth alchemy.
Thou, Sun, art half as happy as we,
In that the world's contracted thus ;
Thine age asks ease, and since thy duties be
To warm the world, that's done in warming us.
Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere ;
This bed thy center is, these walls thy sphere.

Another important thing is the similarity of this poetry and some of our own. I have brought some as examples. This shows the universality of ideas.

Japanese boy teaches a lesson in sacrifice

"Japanese boy teaches a lesson in sacrifice"

EDITOR'S note:

THIS letter, written by Vietnamese immigrant Ha Minh Thanh working in Fukushima as a policeman to a friend in Vietnam , was posted on New America Media on March 19. It is a testimonial to the strength of the Japanese spirit, and an interesting slice of life near the epicenter of Japan 's crisis at the Fukushima nuclear power plant. It was translated by NAM editor Andrew Lam, author of "East Eats West: Writing in Two Hemispheres." Shanghai Daily condensed it.

Brother,

How are you and your family? These last few days, everything was in chaos. When I close my eyes, I see dead bodies. When I open my eyes, I also see dead bodies. Each one of us must work 20 hours a day, yet I wish there were 48 hours in the day, so that we could continue helping and rescuing folks. We are without water and electricity, and food rations are near zero. We barely manage to move refugees before there are new orders to move them elsewhere.

I am currently in Fukushima , about 25 kilometers away from the nuclear power plant. I have so much to tell you that if I could write it all down, it would surely turn into a novel about h uma n relationships and behaviors during times of crisis.

People here remain calm - their sense of dignity and proper behavior are very good - so things aren't as bad as they could be. But given another week, I can't guarantee that things won't get to a point where we can no longer provide proper protection and order.

They are h uma ns after all, and when hunger and thirst override dignity, well, they will do whatever they have to do. The government is trying to provide supplies by air, bringing in food and medicine, but it's like dropping a little salt into the ocean.

Brother, there was a really moving incident. It involves a little Japanese boy who taught an adult like me a lesson on how to behave like a human being.

Last night, I was sent to a little grammar school to help a charity organization distribute food to the refugees. It was a long line that s***** this way and that and I saw a little boy around 9 years old. He was wearing a T-shirt and a pair of shorts.

It was getting very cold and the boy was at the very end of the line. I was worried that by the time his turn came there wouldn't be any food left. So I spoke to him. He said he was at school when the earthquake happened. His father worked nearby and was driving to the school. The boy was on the third floor balcony when he saw the tsunami sweep his father's car away.

I asked him about his mother. He said his house is right by the beach and that his mother and little sister probably didn't make it. He turned his head and wiped his tears when I asked about his relatives.

The boy was shivering so I took off my police jacket and put it on him. That's when my bag of food ration fell out. I picked it up and gave it to him. "When it comes to your turn, they might run out of food. So here's my portion. I already ate. Why don't you eat it?"

The boy took my food and bowed. I thought he would eat it right away, but he didn't. He took the bag of food, went up to where the line ended and put it where all the food was waiting to be distributed.

I was shocked. I asked him why he didn't eat it and instead added it to the food pile.

He answered: "Because I see a lot more people hungrier than I am. If I put it there, then they will distribute the food equally."

When I heard that I turned away so that people wouldn't see me cry.

A society that can produce a 9-year-old who understands the concept of sacrifice for the greater good must be a great society, a great people.

Well, a few lines to send you and your family my warm wishes. The hours of my shift have begun again.

Break, break, break

Break, break, break
On thy cold gray stones, O Sea
And I would that my tongue could utter
The thoughts that arise in me

O, well for the fisherman's boy
That he shouts with his sister at play
O, well for the sailor lad
That he sings in his boat on the bay

And the stately ships go on
To their haven under the hill
But O for the touch of a vanish'd hand
And the sound of a voice that is still

Break, break, break
At the foot of thy crags, O Sea
But the tender grace of a day that is dead
Will never come back to me.

by: Alfred lord Tennyson

personally, I adore this poem because of the nostalgic theme of loss and it's reference to sea as a power which we can identity with

There is much difference between an affair that its pleasure soon goes but its pain remains and one that its reward remains but its pain soon goes

There are moments in life when you miss someone

So much that you just want to pick them from

Your dreams and hug them for real

-----------------------------------------------------------------

When the door of happiness closes, another opens

But often times we look so long at the

Closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't go for looks; they can deceive

Don't go for wealth; even that fades away

Go for someone who makes you smile

Because it takes only a smile to

Make a dark day seem bright

Find the one that makes your heart smile

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dream what you want to dream

Go where you want to go

Be what you want to be

Because you have only one life

And one chance to do all the things

You want to do

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet

Enough trials to make you strong

Enough sorrow to keep you human and

Enough hope to make you happy

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The happiest of people don't necessarily

Have the best of everything

They just make the most of

Everything that comes along their way

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past

You can't go forward in life until

You let go of your past failures and heartaches

When you were born, you were crying

And everyone around you was smiling

Live your life so at the end

Youe the one who is smiling and everyone

Around you is crying

Please send this message to those people

Who mean something to you (I JUST DID)

To those who have touched your life in one way or another

To those who make you smile when you really need it

To those who make you see the

Brighter side of things when you are really down

To those whose friendship you appreciate

To those who are so meaningful in your life
