Early today morning we reported about Unofficial QuickPWN 2.2.1 iPhone and iPod Touch Firmware 2.2.1 Jailbreak tool. We had also mentioned that there is not comment from iPhone Dev team on this. But now here is updated from iPhone dev regarding possible Jailbreak options for iPhone and iPod touch Firmware 2.2.1.


iPhone dev team have wrote a pretty long post and we have tried to exact and summarize the whole post in following points. Before procedding to read this post one thing you have to keep in mind “Do Not QuickPwn, and do not use the official ipsw or the iTunes update process without using PwnageTool if you want to keep unlock ability of your iPhone 3G 2.2.


Summary of iPhone Dev Team Updates.

iPhone 3G

1. iPhone Dev Team has not released latest version of PwnageTool or QuickPWN but jail breaking of iPhone 3G 2.2.1 is definitely possible.


2. Firmware 2.2.1 will update your Baseband version if you try to use vanilla updater straight away with iTunes and possibly you will lose the potential to unlock your iPhone 3G


3. You can restore and upgrade your iPhone 3G to firmware 2.2.1 if you don’t care about Unlocking in future then can use QuickPWN to jailbreak and add cydia installer.
iPhone 2G first Generation and iPod Touch 1G

You can safely update your iPhone or iPod to firmware 2.2.1. Once QuickPWN is available you can jailbreak your iPhone
iPod Touch 2G

Only iPod Touch 2G users need to wait for some more time as redsn0w is under development.


One good news is that this time QuickPWN and PwnageTool will be release on Bittorent.
