New Years! I just checked it. It counts down at 60 ticks per minute. 60 ticks per minute = 1 minute. At the time I looked at this the count was 1375400, I timed one minute (60 sec) and the new count was 1375340. =60. it counts 60 ticks per minute. so,1 hr =3600 seconds
3600 *24 = 86400 seconds
1 day = 86,400 seconds
initial count:1,375,400 seconds / 86,400 seconds(A Day) = 15.91898 days.
As of today 12-16-09 0200hrs the countdown leads to January 1, 2010. Happy New Year!!!

One way to calculate seconds before new year 2010through MS Excel. Format a cell (sayA1) to General or Number and press put= after that and then cut and paste =DATEVALUE("1/1/2010")-NOW(). In the cell below (A2) press F2 again put= and then point your mouse to the above cell (i.e A1) then enter*24*60*60 and press enter you get seconds countdown to the new Year. The 'A1' cell will not keep ticking away and needs to be refreshed for real time data. The same formula by substituting dates can be used for any future date and time.
