shadows

I don’t know why you try
When you know there’s none left
I don’t know where you fly when
You know you’ve not been sent
How can they know to buy when nothing looks for sale to me
It’s only the wandering eye that finds the time and finally sees

All we are, are shadows in this empty room
With but one light, to give us breath
And every voice, that calls a name it’s never heard
Just tests the taste, and leaves it cleft

Open up every sky
And you’ll see the ground floor
The higher I try to climb I
Forget what I left for
What if I chose to live and let the rest just tumble free
Who would’ve guessed that you and I would never end up we?

All we are, are shadows in this empty room
With but one light, to give us breath

Just tests the taste, and leaves it cleft

Cracks while you hunt and spy
All the sounds you can’t hear
Much more than a willful eye
You just need a desperate trained ear
Lift up the cork and tilt then drink until your teeth turn black
Better to be poor, the rich have made a sport of heart attacks
